When an offer came in on an investment property I knew presenting it to the sellers would be a challenge. Years prior they felt the property was worth 3x what the market was telling us now. After 3 hours of highly focused discussion, Mrs. Seller said, “It’s up to you Ken.” I told him that her comment was code for “I’m ready to sign the offer.” Ken turned to me and asked, “What can you do?” Without hesitation, I said, “I came prepared to sweeten the deal.” With that, I wrote on the back of my business card and passed it to Mrs. Seller. She read it aloud. We all had a good laugh and signed the offer as written.
The card? It said, “Good for ONE Jar of Honey.”
