“What are we even doing?” one of my sellers asked. I responded, “We are putting lipstick on a pig.” The buyers purchasing her property were approved for FHA financing. FHA financing has property-condition requirements, and one of them is no peeling paint. My seller’s property had some peeling paint, so we were out at the property scraping and addressing the affected areas to meet the financing condition. To the seller, it felt a bit inconsequential, as it was an entry-level property and the peeling paint was just one of many projects… BUT it was the only one the lender required for the buyer to obtain their financing… Just another day in the life of the Family Realtor.
