On a busy summer day the phone rang, “Yes, I’d like to see your listing in St Paul on VanBuren.” My schedule was booked back to back with higher-end potential business. The caller continued, “I’d really like to see it today.” Somewhat reluctantly, I offered the lunch hour as the only possibility. She readily agreed. And she loved it. It reminded her of her humble roots in North Carolina, and besides, she could almost put it on her credit card. Her offer of $14,000 was accepted by the Sellers. It was the only appointment that day that progressed to a sale. It was a good lesson in humility.
